Hello my name is JAN, and Welcome to JAUNT’s Automated Network. I am here to help you easily manage you trips with your phone 24 hours a day. Cancel a ride, check your schedule, or receive general information. You can also receive reminder calls from me about your scheduled trips.

I can assist you with:

  • Cancelling your rides
  • Checking your scheduled trips
  • Calling you the night before your trips (trip reminder)
  • Calling you the same day as your trip if the estimated pick-up time changes more than 20 minutes

To use the trip reminder features you will first need to talk to a JAUNT reservationist to be added to the list.

Call JAUNT at (434) 296-3184, and select Option 1 from the main menu: “For General Information”, to check on or cancel your scheduled trips, press 1. After you select Option 1 you can talk to JAN or use the keypad on your phone.

Here’s how it works:

PRESS 1
: You will reach the automated system for information.
• SAY check trips to check on or cancel a trip

• SAY general information to hear information on eligibility, employment, hours of operations and directions to JAUNT offices

• Say reservations to schedule a trip: You will be transferred to JAUNT’s reservations department, where you can schedule a trip with one of the reservationists.
PRESS 2: You will reach JAUNT dispatch
• Use this option if you need to change or have questions about today’s trip.
PRESS 3: You will reach JAUNT reservations.
• Use this option to schedule a trip for any other day than today.
PRESS 4: You will reach JAUNT’s business office
 

  Helpful Tip

  Please be mindful that the JAN system is not a person.  You SHOULD NOT use a cell phone, and remember to speak clearly without any background sounds

What are the features?
First, the system uses speech recognition technology to let you request and hear information on your scheduled trips. You can also cancel trips without having to talk to a reservation agent. This feature is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Second, you can request to have the system call you to remind you about trips and to let you know if a bus arrival time changes. The system will call you between 6-9pm the evening before a trip, tell you the trip information, and give you the option to cancel the trip if needed. The day of the trip, it will call you if your bus arrival time changes and let you know the new time.

Does this system work for everyone?
Unfortunately not, although anyone with access to a telephone and a JAUNT ID number can use the new feature. You don’t need any special equipment or skills to use it but due to different accents and language barriers, the JAN system may not work for everyone. There is no need to push buttons on a telephone — just talk to the system as if you were talking to a person. No special words or phrases are needed.

What do I do when the system calls me?
Answer the questions it asks you in a natural manner.

How do I schedule trips or purchase tickets?
These have not changed. You should continue to schedule trips and purchase tickets as you always have.
